About the fund

History of the fund

The Saraswati Fund was founded in 2002 with a hope that long-term investing and patience will provide a healthy endowment to assist students and families in the pursuit of educational opportunities that would otherwise cause serious financial strain.

The term 'Saraswati' derives from Hindu Mythology. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge and has been represented as a river, speech, and as a goddess. As a river Saraswati was seen as a provider, one that enriches the land around it allowing it to produce. As speech, Saraswati is associated with poetry, literature, rituals, and communication. And as a goddess, she is the goddess of knowledge; a provider for the mind.
